Bocce Ball Hobby

by : Peter Jay

Well, I haven't played bocce ball in a while, but it is a fun hobby. I wish I had a bocce ball set so that I could play again. The first time I ever played was on a group date with a married couple. They kept talking about this game that they always play from Italy, called bocce ball. That was before it really caught on in the United States. Now it seems like many people know about.
Bocce ball is a game where you just toss the bocce balls against another ball. First, you throw the first ball. There are two teams. One team then throws a bocce ball and tries to get their bocce ball to land as close as possible to the target ball, the first ball that was thrown. The other team then tries to get their ball closer to the target ball. It is kind of like the winter sport of curling. The person or team who gets their bocce ball closest to the target ball wins. The points are then allocated by how many bocce balls the winning team has closer to the target ball, then the team that didn't have a bocce ball closest to the target ball.
The nice thing about bocce ball is that you can play it wherever and whenever you want. It's a simple game with simple rules, but it's somewhat addicting and you can play for hours, and you can play often without getting bored with it. It's also nice because once you get yourself a bocce ball set you can go play as often as you want for free. Just take the family to the park or even to the backyard, or invite a date over or to the park and play a game of bocce ball.
One thing I like to do when I play bocce ball is to play on different and various terrains. It adds a whole new level of bocce ball playing experience to play on different terrains. Usually people play in the park on the grass in an open field. When playing at the park, sometimes it is fun to have an obstacle in the way. Once we played where we through the target ball over the backstop of a baseball field and had to throw our bocce balls over it as well, to get close to the target ball. Another time, at the park we threw the ball under a pine tree or over or behind, or among some pine trees. It makes a little more fun to try different things.
You could also try playing bocce ball in the mountains. You could play on a rocky terrain where your bocce balls could bounce away when they hit the rocks. You can play by water if you like; you can play by a pond or stream, as many golfers do at golf courses. You can play on a sloped up or down hill where you have to compensate for the ball rolling down the hill.
Bocce ball has really caught on in some parts of the United States. It seems like many people know about it now. More and more people are realizing how fun it is and starting their bocce ball hobbies. It's nice as well, because bocce ball is kind of a laid back, slow game, that is still fun, but you can still talk about things, kind of like golf. You can talk and joke around while still playing the game and entertaining yourselves.
There is some strategy to playing bocce ball. It makes a difference who goes first and last. Do you want to hit the target ball? Do you want to hit the other teams bocce ball with yours when you throw, to hit their ball further away from the target ball, at the same time risking that your ball may not be as close because of it. Some people can even get pretty competitive playing bocce ball. Bocce ball games can get pretty intense sometimes.
So, if you want to start a good hobby that you can do often for entertainment, then go and get yourself some bocce ball sets . You can even play by yourself if you want. Just throw the target ball, and then start tossing the bocce balls at it, although it is probably much more fun to play with other people.
